You Give Me Commitment and Effort.
The Silat training you receive will profoundly improve your martial skills and help you work towards totality in combat as expressed in our Indonesian-rooted Silat.
Recall from the homepage that my ultimate objective for you is to flourish; not just in martial arts, but in life.
An intensive study of the movement training discipline of Silat can cultivate the highest level of well-being by satisfying all elements of its construction.
Are you reluctant to begin Silat training or, if you've trained before, are you wary of resuming training because:
You're concerned your body's not ready for Silat?
Your previous experience with Silat was not good?
You were made to do advanced things before you were ready?
You haven't found the Silat teacher that "fits" you?
You haven't found a Silat curriculum that has the breadth and depth you seek?
You've been injured before training Silat?
Solid Skill Development A process involving steps such as defensive entry, make the way, and execute the technique can develop solid skill in a takedown maneuver like Sapu Dalam. A system involving multiple stages of curriculum ascension can develop solid skill in Silat. |
Confidence Being receptive to Silat teachings and diligently working on the skills leads to good Silat technique. Good technique, mindfulness, and countless repetitions leads to success in Silat. Silat success breeds confidence. |
Guarantee of Satisfaction The 100 percent satisfaction guaranteed commitment is something I pride myself on. I truly want you to feel that the value you receive from your Silat training is exceptional. Read more about the martial arts training guarantee here (coming soon). |
I know how frustrating it is to work with Silat businesses or professionals who don’t provide in-depth teaching and personal attention.
I pride myself on both.
Beyond in-depth teaching and personal attention, you can trust:
My knowledge, skills, and abilities (evidenced by my credentials)
My personal and professional experience

My mindset
Magda Institute Association Began MI Association training in 2001. MI training includes Silat. The MI founder received training from two renowned Silat Pendekars - Paul de Thouars and Herman Suwanda. |
In 1996, I began training with Sifu Wayne Jackson in Williamsport, Maryland. While Silat was not the focal point of the curriculum, he sometimes included material from various sources.
Even before my training with Sifu Wayne ended, I was exposed to the motherload of Silat training via my connection to the Magda Institute Association.
On the professional side of things, I first began teaching in 2001. As the Fitness Director at Headquarters Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall, I launched a martial arts program under the Marine Corps Community Services banner. This program continued until my departure in February 2008.
This time period was instrumental in my professional growth. I taught classes nearly every day of the week; two of which were Silat (but only from 2003 on). I organized many seminars; most conducted by Guro Cass himself, and others conducted by MI Staff Instructor Mike Tasman.
Since 2008, I have mostly taught in the civilian world; except for a brief, several-month stint of teaching aboard Westover Air Reserve Base in 2015; while employed as the Exercise Physiologist.
Throughout my career, I have helped countless men and women develop Silat knowledge, skills and abilities. Two of my fondest memories include meeting two Silat masters during my travels - both thanks to my connection to Guro Cass. I had the honor of meeting Guro Jak Othman in Malaysia in 2003. In 2008, I had the honor of meeting Guro O'ong Maryono during a trip to Thailand.

"As a representative of Magda Institute (Sifu Cass Magda's School in Reseda, CA), Ron Hebb's well deserved credentials to teach Indonesian Silat required hard work and dedication. These are the same attributes he looks for in his students. As we are fond of saying, Silat picks the student. During a recent Silat seminar at his school in Williamsport, MD (former location), Ron demonstrated his exceptional teaching ability and technical precision. During a short seminar, Ron presented a wealth of information along with an education in Indonesian culture and history. As a long time Silat and Kali instructor myself, I highly recommend training with Ron. If Silat picks you, you'll find it to be a life changing experience.
Train well,"
Eric C. - Gaithersburg, MD
I define this by a single word - family.
This is the feeling I desire for you to experience.
Other single word choices that serve my mindset well include: brotherhood or community.
The desired result is twofold:
You feel that you're cared about
You feel a sense of belonging to a group that shares a common purpose
The “path” involves three simple steps:
Step 1 - Claim, Schedule, & Complete
|
Step 2 - Join & Commit
|
Step 3 - Achieve

Immersing yourself in the experience of Silat training can certainly liven your life in countless ways.
The connection between your mind, body, and spirit will strengthen greatly providing you with an increased appreciation of the connectedness of your own being, which can lead to a greater appreciation of the world around you.
Your confidence will grow by leaps and bounds providing you with the self-belief to conquer new personal and / or professional challenges.
You will experience stamina improvements that provide you with increased energy that inspires you to try new active pursuits you've only previously dreamed of.
These "livenings" only scratch the surface of what's possible.
The human body was created to move.
In fact, movement is critical to human existence.
"Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it." - Plato
Beyond livening your life, Silat training can lengthen your life in numerous ways and it can increase your "healthspan" or the time you spend in good health and being free from disability.
The maintenance of a healthy weight is more likely when movement is a regular part of your life. Maintaining a healthy weight and being active contribute to the reduction of chronic diseases connected to inactivity and obesity, which can lead to a longer life.
Resilience or the ability to adapt positively under adverse circumstances is thought to be associated with longevity. Quality movement training can create positive adverse circumstances that promote the development of resilience. This resilience can transcend movement and contribute to a lengthened life.
The link between health and social connections is strong. Being a part of CFP's Silat community connects you to others with whom you have shared interests. This connection can positively impact your health, which can, in turn, positively impact your life's length.
These "lengthenings" only scratch the surface of what's possible.
If you’re looking to grow as a martial artist and a person you need a powerful change agent.
If Silat training sparks your interest, you have two tracks from which to choose your personal path.
For those whose interest is keen, the Silat training from the Cultural Curriculum is highly recommended.
For those who interest is present, but less keen, the Phase Curriculum is recommended because it includes only specific elements of Silat.
In either case, Silat training can serve as a powerful change agent.
While many view the martial arts simply as systems of self-defense, I see the martial arts as one of the most powerful vehicles known to mankind – the kind of vehicle that fosters serious personal growth and development.
A martial art’s ability to foster personal growth and development has as much, or more, to do with the teacher than the art itself. The teacher’s comprehensive knowledge of the art, its cultural and historical significance, and the teacher’s belief and commitment to the transforming power of the art are even more important.
Silat is a splendid martial art, as well as a cultural and historical entity of the Malay culture - Indonesia in this case. Deeply delving into the world of Silat and truly committing yourself to the rigorous path can change your life in ways you never imagined.
On your journey of growth, Silat will be a source of inspiration and delight.
While you will acquire knowledge, that’s not the objective.
Why?
It’s not the objective because knowledge alone is useless.
Only when you learn to apply your knowledge do you gain the power associated with that knowledge. In other words, your knowledge becomes usable knowledge when you can actually apply the things you have learned.
So, remember – knowledge is not power!
The ability to apply knowledge is power.
In life, opportunities come along that can forever change your future.
Many times these opportunities are squandered due to family, fear, friends, indecision, and other real and perceived obstacles.
Change requires moving outside your comfort zone.
Change also requires seizing the right opportunities.
By seizing this opportunity, you are changing your future for the better.
For a brighter future, learn how you can get started with our FREE Classes.
Whether you’re ready or not to begin your lifelong journey into Silat and the powerful and transforming world that is martial arts, you should take this opportunity to learn more about Silat.
